Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal,Australia
Expansion 6 for the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT)
DBCT is one of Australia's largest coal export facilities. It receives coal from several mines located in the world famous coal producing area of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland Australia.

The port is located some 25Km south of the central Queensland coastal town of Mackay. Since it was built in the early 80's there has been steady expansion of the facility as demand from the inland mines grew and mining methods improved.
Expansion 6 is currently underway and includes a new ship loading berth (allowing the loading of 3 ships simultaneously), and a new shiploader (SL3).
The expansion brings the total out put up to more than 40 Million Tons per year. Further expansions are planned for the future.

Svendborg Brakes DK recently delivered 12 x BSFH 512-400 calipers for the new shiplaoders luffing winch and 1 x BSFI 3120-30R-200 for the low speed conveyor application. All brakes were delivered via the Australian distributor Svendborg Brakes Australia (SBA).

Special Power units were designed and manufactured by SBA's Parent company Simon Hydraulics in their Brisbane manufacturing plant and service facility.
When the facility was built Svendborg Brakes was involved and has had involvement with sequent expansions.
Svendborg Brakes DK is pleased to have again delivered products to DBCT.

Shiploader for Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Australia
The shiploader was built by Evans Deakin Ltd. on the bank of the Brisbane river and shipped intact to their site (Hay Point just south of Mackay in North Queensland) by the crane vessel The Happy Buccaneer.

The shiploader is part of a multimillion dollar expansion of the DBCT, including new conveying/ handling systems and bucket wheel reclaimers which will in-crease the Coal Terminal's capacity to some 40 million tons per year.

There are no less than 16 BSFH 408 brakes on the Main Luffing Winch from Svendborg Brakes, Denmark.

Hunterston ship unloaders at Clydeport, Scotland
With the fitting of new BSFH 300 monospring brakes, to both the hold and close and the rack motions, 2 of the UK's largest ship unloaders are now completely equipped with Svendborg calipers. There are also Svendborg calipers on the long travel drives. The cranes are 72 meters high, and have a work rating of 4500 tonnes per hour.

There are:
2 x BSFH 350 Monosprings on the close motion
2 x BSFH 350 Monosprings on the Hold motion
1 x BSFH 350 Monospring on the rack motion
16 x BSFH 304 on the long travel gear boxes
8 x BSFH 320 directly on the wheels

The old and worn out Wichita brakes on the hold, close and rack were too expensive to repair and ser vice and the Svendborg solution proved to be economical despite the need for new discs and support brackets.

Svendborg Brakes - Cargill New Orleans, USA
SOBO brake installation upgrade for Mississippi barge unloader Unloading of the constant stream of grain barges at New Orleans that sail down the Mississippi river from the prairies is a classic example of bulk materials handling.

The grain terminals with their massive silos that stand by the river estuary devised ways of picking up the grain from the barge and transporting it to storage many years ago and in some cases, solutions that worked so well have continued to do so over very long periods.
